F&R backs the team to achieve its goal
For the first time in the history of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus’s, the “Equipo del Puente de Acero” obtains the 1st place overall in regional competitions for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). These competitions, in which 24 universities from the Southeastern part of United States participated, were held from the 10th through the 12th of March in Alabama University, Tascaloosa.
Kevin Cueto Alvarado, a fourth year Civil Engineer student and Captain of the team, thanked F&R for the sponsorship given to the team that made possible their attendance in the competition.
“To improve in the categories of Speed in Construction and Economy, we determined that we should use another connection model. These could not be produced by us because it required manufacturing with machinery that we did not have,” said Cueto.
“We ask for the auspice of F&R Construction and they did not hesitate to help us; not only with the funds to build the connection model, but also in granting money to make the trip. Without any doubt, F&R Construction was essential to the success of our team, we will be forever grateful for their support and confidence in us,” said the team leader.
“Equipo del Puente de Acero del RUM”, consisting of fifteen members, with Kevin Cueto as the Captain and Carlos Rivera as Co-Captain, qualified to participate in the National competitions that will take place in Utah the 27th and 28th of May.
